I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change.
-Michael Jackson
Or the woman in this case. My name is Greta Brumback Liskey and I am a member of the III Class of VALOR participants. I live in Harrisonburg, VA with my husband and four year old daughter, but farm with my dad and family in Winchester, VA.
I have been blessed to grow up as a fifth generation farmer on my families farm in Winchester, VA. We grow a little bit of everything on our farm, from apples, to peaches, to vegetables, beef, cattle, and row crops, we also have an on farm market and cold storage to store apples in. Over the last hundred plus years the farm has changed dramatically. My family is an inspiration to me to always be forward thinking and willing to make changes and take chances.
Why VALOR?
As the song says “Take a look at yourself and then make a change,” and I am ready to change. The world we live in is changing at such a fast pace and agriculture is no exception. Participating in the VALOR class will help me to better identify my role in the industry and push me to continue to challenge myself so I can be the best role model for my daughter as well as a role model in agriculture.
Wonderful outlook!! Proud of you!
