Ciara Prencipe

Ciara Prencipe (she/they) is a manager at Potomac Vegetable Farms in northern Virginia, where she has worked since 2013. She started her career in farming by volunteering on farms abroad through the WWOOF organization, gaining experience with vegetables, microgreens, herbs, grapes, and small livestock. She then went to Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, and there worked on the college farm with sheep and cattle and received her B.S. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Agriculture. Potomac Vegetable Farms is a small diversified ecoganic farm that serves a large CSA, 5 farmers’ markets, and two roadside stands. Her role there has grown over the years from a beginning farm worker to a member of the management team. She is also on the board of the Loudoun County Farm Bureau, a lobbying organization that focuses on policy and social change benefiting farmers in Loudoun County, Virginia. This year, she has been a part of a collective of friends tending a small herd of sheep together. When she’s not farming, Ciara enjoys singing, reading, and cooking.

I’m looking forward to being a VALOR fellow for the opportunity to develop and refine my leadership skills, build connections in my home state of Virginia, and to continue to support farmers through advocacy work.
