Michael Sponaugle is a Highland County native and multi-generational farmer. Since high school, he has worked on his family’s cattle and poultry farm. For several years, he helped coach the local 4-H livestock judging team. Michael married his wife, Kari, in 2010 and in 2011 they started Church Hill Produce LLC with 8 acres of fresh produce. By 2017, the farm transitioned to wholesale production, supplying buyers beyond Virginia. Michael continues to farm with his father, managing their Angus cross, cow-calf herd and turkeys with Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative. Michael and Kari have three children, are members of Stonewall Christian Fellowship and through their love of agriculture, continue to support future generations through 4-H and FFA projects.

“I am excited to participate in VALOR to expand my knowledge and explore agriculture beyond my local community and comfort zone. I want to build relationships with folks who are as passionate about agriculture as me.”
