Communication, Education and Awareness

Communication… Knowledge Exchange.

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.”

— James Humes

Our journey as VALOR fellows is one of enlightnement, education and leadership developement. An integral part of our path to success is communication, as Mr. Humes noted, communication is the language of leadership. Our recent travels found us in Harrisonburg, VA at WVPT Television. We had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Amy Roscher, Producer and Host of “Virginia Farming”, a weekly show communication Agricultural issues in Virginias Shenandoah Valley.

Valley

We experienced the unique opportunity to be interviewed in the WVPT studio and record our interviews for replay. Oh my, what an eye opener !!! Some valuable do and don’ts about interviewing. Learning from doing is the principle that the group adheres to and this was no exception. I am sure we all gained a new appreciation for communication. This exercise was the first of many for us to develope the necessary communication skills to be effective advocates for our industry.

Communication is the backbone of knowledge exchange. One of the most important things we will accomplish is to communicate our industry, our values and our belief that there is nothing finer that American Agriculture. More than ever there is a need for the story of agriculture to be communicated to our natiuon and abroad.
