Sierra Guynn is a food animal veterinarian and researcher at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VMCVM). Originally from Maryland, she went to school in New York and Nebraska for her bachelors and Ph.D. However, Sierra made her way back to Blacksburg, VA for veterinary school. She did not grow up in agriculture, however due to the excellent experiences, education and mentorship she received at the VMCVM – she was a competent food animal veterinarian upon graduation. After private practice for 6 years, in Maryland and Texas, Sierra returned to provide clinical service and teach at her veterinary alma mater more than 10 years ago. Cattle are her preferred food animal to work with in veterinary medicine. But her favorite work is actually with humans; supporting the beef and dairy producers and teaching the veterinary students.
